Always enjoy interactive displays and learn something new each visit - staff very friendly and cafe to be recommended with wi-fi available, will be returning here again for the new displays and talks also very informative! definitely one all the family can enjoy in all weathers!
I initially thought that this museum was a bit pricey although you definitely get your money's worth once you enter. It is very extensive and has the history of both the telegraph and the technical college which trained the operators. You can also enter the caves where the equipment and operators worked from during ww2. It is all very interesting and something you wouldn't have thought too much about until you are there.
Fascinating look into the history of the telegraph in the UK and abroad. Not just the mechanics of it all, but an insight into the lives of the people who made it all work around the world. The second world war tunnels were particularly interesting, and the hundred or so steps up the escape tunnel were well worth the effort for the view from the top!
This museum was so much more than I was expecting! It's actually quite extensive, as you will learn when walking through the tunnels, than just the welcome building. There's so much to see, hear, watch and listen to, we loved it! We were fortunate to catch one of the talks lead by a very knowledgeable member of staff who had lots of personal experiences to add to the story. The gardens were beautiful as was the gentle amble down to the stunning beach. Fabulous day out for us two 50 pluses. I'm not sure how exciting young children would find it but you probably will. Highly recommended!
The Museum itself and the tunnels are quite breath-taking especially the WWII tunnels; you get to see how communication technology progressed over the decades. There is also a informative show from time to time (with some bad-jokes let's face it). The machinery shown of is very impressive. You can also use a telegraph to send your own messages to your friend 3 meters away from you.
