Fantastic food, cool decor, thoughtful service, couldn't ask for better
Extremely over priced, the mains come with a dollop of coleslaw and that's it. i ordered "beer can" chicken which came burnt and was tasteless. The "gravy" was also tasteless and had the consistency of water. My recommendations for anyone in Penzance is to go to a meadery, much nicer, not pretentious. Calling this place "Cornish" is a joke. I normally don't post reviews but feel like I was robbed paying such an extortionate price.
Came here for lunch out of season.Love the interior decor, very relaxed atmosphere in the bar lounge area where we ate.2 out of the 3 on draught drinks were unavailable, which must be embarrassing considering its a bar restaurant.But, the smoked haddock kedgeree was a stunning plate of food, I hope it wasn't a one off because I'm going to be back for more.
A lovely restaurant with small bar and relaxing lounge area. The dcor makes for a relaxed atmosphere and the staff are welcoming and attentive. The menu offers dishes of a high standard and there's plenty of components to each plate making up for a lack of huge variety in each course. I would absolutely rate The Cornish Barn 5 stars were it not for the fact my girlfriend asked for her steak to be cooked medium and it came to the table rare. The waitress was quick to correct this but I expect more and am of the opinion every chef should know how to cook a steak to order. A small blemish on an otherwise lovely evening.
I recommended this for the family, while we were visiting Cornwall. Saw it on Google and drove past it and looked good. OMG. what a winner. Everyone loved it, starters and mains. Was dubious as the price was high, but definitely worth it!!! The service was amazing too! I think there were 3 members of service staff and they were so on it! Also, compliments to the chef! 8 loads of starters and mains cooked to perfection!
